Effective Date: July 29, 2026
Welcome to HAI Compass ("the App"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the App. By installing, accessing, or using HAI Compass, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
HAI Compass is an informational companion app for patients living with a hepatic artery infusion (HAI) pump, their family caregivers, and their care teams. It provides refill tracking, symptom logging, treatment education, and — when you choose to connect it — the ability to view your own lab results and imaging reports from your health system's electronic health record.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the App. The App is designed for adults living with a hepatic artery infusion pump, their caregivers, and credentialed healthcare providers. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.
When you use HAI Compass, you agree to:
Patient-facing functions support education, scheduling, recordkeeping, and communication with your care team. They do not calculate or display medication doses, diagnose conditions, or direct treatment changes. Lab values imported from your health system are displayed alongside your own tracked data but are not combined with algorithms that would recommend changes to your treatment.
The clinician calculator performs transparent calculations from cited HAI FUDR protocols using clinician-entered values. It reports protocol calculation results and does not write orders, control the pump, or determine the final prescribed or administered dose. It is not intended for patients or caregivers. It is gated behind an explicit clinician affirmation, and clinicians must independently verify every input, calculation, source version, and application to the patient and institution before any clinical use. The treating clinician retains full responsibility for all clinical decisions.
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, store, and protect your information. Key points:
If you choose to link your MyChart or other electronic health record (EHR) account to HAI Compass, the App will use the SMART on FHIR authorization protocol to request read-only access to your lab results and imaging reports from your health system.
You may revoke EHR access at any time from within the App. Revocation clears the access token on your device and the cached EHR data. Revocation requests are also sent to your health system's authorization server where supported.
This release of HAI Compass does not include an active research feature, and using the App does not enroll you in research. Any research program we may offer in the future will be strictly opt-in, governed by a separate informed-consent agreement, and something you can decline or withdraw from at any time without losing access to the App's clinical-companion features.
The HAI Compass App, including its code, design, educational content, visual elements, and trademarks, is owned by the HAI Compass project and its contributors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-commercial license to use the App for its intended purpose.
Information you enter into the App about yourself and your care — your pump details, symptoms, labs, travel logs, notes — is yours. We hold it as a custodian under our Privacy Policy; we do not claim ownership of it.
You may not:
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, free of viruses or other harmful components, or that defects will be corrected. Any reliance you place on the App is strictly at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will the HAI Compass project, its contributors, or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the App — whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Decisions about your medical care should be made in consultation with your care team. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for clinical outcomes arising from your use of the App or from any information presented within it.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the HAI Compass project and its contributors from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" above and may notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you may discontinue use of the App and delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the App will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
